Three ways to give a meeting room privacy
Most office partition briefs come down to the same trade-off: the client wants the light and the openness of glass, and also wants the room to be private when it is in use. There are three honest answers, and they cost and behave very differently.

Smart glass can also be retrofitted as a film onto suitable glass that is already installed — useful when a tenant wants privacy in a space they did not build.

Where the power goes, if any glass is switchable
Every smart glass panel needs a feed to its transformer. That route has to be agreed with the electrical contractor before ceilings and wall finishes close, because reaching it afterwards means opening them again.

What the partition is fixed to
Glass is heavy and unforgiving. Head and floor fixings need a structural substrate, not a plasterboard bulkhead, and that is coordinated with the main contractor.

How the ceiling and floor lines actually run
A partition is only as straight as the slab. Level and plumb are surveyed before manufacture, since glass cannot be trimmed on site the way a stud wall can.

The clear opening, not the structural one
A sliding door's usable passage is narrower than the hole it sits in. Agreeing the clear opening early avoids a door that meets the drawing but not the brief.

The finish, on a physical sample
We match RAL colours, anodised and textured coatings. Sign those off on a sample in the actual light of the space, not from a screen.

From final CAD approval to installed, a typical partition package runs two to three weeks. Larger or phased fit-outs are programmed around the main contractor's sequence.
Office glass partitions: common questions
How slim can the framing be?
Our ultra-slim vertical profiles have sightlines from around 20mm, which keeps the framing close to a line rather than a band across the glass.
Can switchable privacy glass be added to partitions we already have?
Often, yes. Self-adhesive smart film is applied to the existing pane, so meeting rooms can be upgraded without replacing the glass. Whether it suits depends on the glass itself, which is what the site survey establishes.
What happens to a smart glass meeting room in a power cut?
It goes private. The frosted state is the unpowered default, so a power failure during a meeting closes the room rather than exposing it.
How much power does switchable glass use?
Less than 5 watts per square metre while it is held clear. It draws nothing in its frosted state.
Can the partitions be controlled from the building system?
Yes. The transformers integrate with smart building and smart home systems, so a room can be switched from a wall panel, an app or a scene alongside the lighting.
Do you provide shop drawings for consultant approval?
Yes. Our engineers carry out a laser site survey and issue complete shop drawings for architect sign-off before anything is manufactured.
Are the installation teams in-house?
Yes. Installation is carried out by SEG's own certified technical crews, with no reliance on external sub-contractors.
What finishes are available on the aluminium?
Custom RAL colour matching, anodised finishes and textured powder coatings, matched to the interior scheme.
